the foodsaver was a piece of crap

I got my foodsaver yesterday. It broke today. I have to pay for shipping and handling to return it or wait 3 weeks for a free shipping label. I am not impressed.

We bought a Black&Decker one on clearance at Chinamart for $30. We have sent over 50 feet of bags through it without a problem.

I went to cabelas to look and they are rated there. Evidently I bought the gamesaver sport that got that got 1 star out of 5. Pftttt!!!

Sorry that happened. Ours predates multiple models, has been used a LOT, and has been great.

Some here say the Gamesaver pro is the one to get. I am holding off until I get out of this lousy rental and on a piece of property. Come on real estate crash (more than is happening now :D)!!

Our Food Saver has worked fine for the last several months...Model V2220...will let you know how it holds up.

Re: the foodsaver was a piece of crap

That stinks it broke so fast. Mine has held up so far, but I don't think it does a very good job at sealing the bags. I have lots of problems where the bag doesn't seal properly and it loses vaccum by the next morning.

Re: the foodsaver was a piece of crap

Get a Pro II or Pro III on ebay. I got a Pro II refurb on ebay 6 years ago. Don't seal with creases across the heating element. Hold it tight. Not tough to do. 12 year old niece works it fine. 1000's of bags. My Dad got a smaller foodsaver, but it required a timeout after 10 seals or so.

They have a lot of Food savers at the Bass Pro shop. There's a HUGH one not far from me. Anyone have any dealing with them? If it breaks shortly I can take it back.

Re: the foodsaver was a piece of crap

Evidently some Food savers work and some don't. The model I bought has terrible reviews. I should have read the reviews before I bought it. Beef jerky what model did you buy that kept breaking?

Ill check eBay for a refurbished foodsaver. I assume all these broken food savers are send somewhere and fixed and end up refurbirshed so maybe that's the best way to go.

Thank you Elijah. You have no idea how long I have waited for the appropriate discussion board to use a Possum Avatar on. :D

Big Rob...That looks like a version of the pump and seal...
If anyone has tried either please give some feedback.

I just tried it.

It does hold a seal surprisingly.Vacuums a bag in 5 seconds.

Has held a seal about 5 days now on meat in freezer.

The vacuum is not as strong as a regular sealer but almost as good.It will leave small spots on the meat where it didnt fully pull out the air.I would say about 1-2%,vrs less than 1% on the table top sealers.

If you dont have the money for something else this product does work.

For the price its a viable product.

Re: the foodsaver was a piece of crap

I forgot to update on the foodsaver. I went to big lots and bought a rival for $30.00 It worked great. In the meantime foodsaver sent me an upgrade on my gamesaver sport. They must not have wanted to lose a customer because they exchanged the cheap game saver for a $299. deluxe model and threw in some free bags. The machine is really fancy and way more then I would have bought. It has all sorts of conviences on it. I gave the rival to my daughter and we are both happy.

I also like that the Foodsaver owned up to the fact that gamesaver was a piece of junk. From what I read on the Internet many people had problems with that model.

We have a Food Saver 2490 (Costco). Must have rum 50 rolls through it already with slight problem of it heating up after 5 in a row. Wipe the sealing area with a wet sponge and keep on sealing....

Re: the foodsaver was a piece of crap

The Professional III has worked very well. It has a heavy duty pump.. it also doesn't heat up at all when sealing.
